Georgetown Triathletes is a non-intimidating group, dedicated to the educational pursuit of triathlon, dual sport, running, health, and general physical fitness, within the multi-sport and running community. The overall goal of the club is to foster the sport of triathlon, dual sport, and running at all levels, from beginners to seasoned racers.
Dear GTT Park Runners....Happy New Year from all of us at Georgetown Triathletes! We hope you all had a peaceful holiday season.
2025 is now well and truly upon us so we wanted to take this opportunity to give you all an update on the monthly Park Run and what we anticipate in the future.
Unfortunately, the City of Georgetown recently increased the cost of utilizing their parks for events like ours and added an additional race fee to the cost of renting individual pavilions. Should we continue to host the 5k Park Run at San Gabriel Park, this would increase the entry fees and negate the opportunity to give proceeds to a local charity. This runs against our intent of continuing to offer a "no frills" opportunity to gather once a month and participate in a community run/walk event.
We have reached out to Berry Springs Park and Reserve and are confident that we can resume the race at this location beginning in March 2025. There will more than likely still be additional costs for us to host the race, however we are confident that we will be able to continue to offer this for just $2 per adult and no cost to students. The opportunity to return to this location is exciting and we are grateful to the park staff who understand that this is an important "not for profit" event enjoyed by many runners and walkers alike.
We hope to bring you specific information as to when the March run will occur. Should you want to connect with a Saturday running group until then, feel free to reach out to Cody McGrath who leads "Run Uplifted" . His group meets every Saturday morning on the Georgetown Town Square for a workout designed for all levels and experience (email Cody13mcgrath@gmail.com).
We look forward to seeing you all in March!
